Getting gorgeous skin is easy

This week we want to talk about our skin,  it is the largest organ in the body, a remarkable organ that not only protects our vital organs but also regulates temperature and detoxifies the body. Its a powerful interface between the mind, body and soul, and can show our stress, happiness, health and age.  Protecting and nourishing your skin, doesn't come from the outside, but the inside and like most mechanisms in the most part is affected by what we eat, don't eat and absorb.  Whether you need to maintain, preserve or repair your skin, its never too late to begin, and where else to start but your food. Before we proceed any further, we must stress the power of organic food to nourish the body and skin. Feeding your body pure clean foods with no artifical chemicals is so important for keeping at bay ageing and problematic skin as well as providing optimum nutritional content.

ORGANIC AVOCADO: containing glutathione, an amazing detoxifier and antioxidant, assisting in ridding the body of oxidised fats and neutralising free radicals.  They are also a great source of biotin which is essential for fat synthesis.  Add some guacamole to your lunch, or cut open sprinkle with salt and drizzle with lemon juice for a great snack.  Add some to your organic box

ORGANIC ALMONDS: containing the fabulous good fats, monosaturated fatty acids, and all the essential skin nutrients, including vitamin E, magnesium and calcium.  Great for relaxing blood vessels and in return nourishing skin. Munch on some for morning tea, or make some yummy salt and vinegar almonds.

GOOD FATS: These fats are so important for keeping the body hydrated, firm and looking amazing.  Known as essential fatty acids (EFA's), these are found in oily fish, walnuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, flaxseed and extra virgin olive oils. Go crazy with these, sprinkle the seeds on your salad or morning tea, drizzle everything with olive oil...its your friend, just make sure that its the Organic Extra Virgin COLD PRESSED olive oil.

ORGANIC KALE/SPINACH: These powerhouses are full of antioxidants, B vitamins, iron and zinc.  Zinc is a nutrient well renowned for normal cellular
growth. Add them to all your salad, make kale chips, add them to your smoothies and organic box this week.

ORGANIC PLUMS AND PRUNES TOO: A great source of fibre and keeping regular is essential for good skin, toxic build up in the body will ultimately show itself in the skin.

Avoid:

SUGAR: this doesn't just mean the refined processed varieties, this also includes any refined grains that turn to sugar in the body, so avoiding white pasta's, white breads, biscuits, white rice, these create inflammatory chemicals as well as robbing the body of vital nutrients.

BAD FATS:  These include the fried varieties, hydrogenated and all partially hydrogenated oils such as those found in margarine, chips, biscuits, donuts and potato chips amongst other foods.   These fats accelerate ageing and cause free radical damage.  Free radical damage causes cells to damage.

PROCESSED FOODS: Contain little or no nutrition and rob the body of nutrients in order to process them.  They are usually loaded with excess sugar and salt, which also damage and dehydrate the skin.
